Description of Duties:

General duties will involve construction project management and financial administration including (but not limited to) renovation and construction of boardwalks, buildings (residential, commercial, and agricultural), bridges, roads, boating and dock facilities and entrance improvements for FWC lead wildlife management areas and other FWC lands and facilities.

 

Project administration involves detailed documentation, including managing the permit process as needed, complying with special requirements due to location or archaeological value or environmental needs of an area. This position is responsible for scheduling engineering inspections, reviewing reports, recommending corrections, and following up until completion. In support of construction project design and planning, there are also times when the applicant will be consulted for plan recommendations, site review and suggestions for improvements to accomplish intended project goals. Administration includes the review and financial tracking of task assignments and contractor pay requests. This position also supports the development of purchasing documentation and gathering needed information to meet State of Florida requirements for construction projects. 

 

Project management duties include conducting site visits, pre-bid meetings, pre-construction meetings, construction progress meetings, substantial and final project completion inspections. Applicants must be able to read and understand all applicable permitting agencies approvals for projects throughout the State of Florida. Applicants need to be able to read, understand, and mark-up project plans and specifications. Applicants should have the ability to track project financials to keep a project within budget, and process invoices.

  

Applicants must have excellent organizational skills and must be able to compile accurate field notes, prepare field reports and translate those documents into action in all phases of a project. The selected candidate will need to work efficiently on multiple platforms including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Pro while also using different software products including those used by counties and other permitting agencies. 

 

This position will be the Project Manager for multiple projects working with FWC staff, Civil Engineers, and General Contractors. The successful candidate will also coordinate with area staff and external professionals who provide additional services such as archeology monitoring, surveying, architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural and geotechnical engineering.

 

Applicant must have good customer service skills including the ability to listen to client needs, articulate those needs concisely and represent client interests throughout the planning, design and construction phases of a project.

 

Must have the ability to travel 25% to 50% on average yearly.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to oversee contractor work.

Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

Proficiency with AutoCAD, Geographic Information Systems is desirable.

Experience working with public land managers.

Ability to manage multiple projects, to effectively organize and manage teams to develop work products.

Demonstrated knowledge of, and extensive experience with standard construction techniques, building codes and related permitting, and supervision of construction contractors.

Intermediate skills of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Basic knowledge of accounting.

Ability to read and review building plans.

Knowledge of building codes, laws and regulatory requirements.
