Summary of Job Duties:

The Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist, (COMT), must be able to effectively perform as part of a team. As this position requires direct patient contact, assistants must maintain compassion towards patients.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma/GED plus three (3) years of ophthalmic/optometric assisting experience required.

• Current Ophthalmic Assistant Certification.

• Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.

All Levels:

• Needs good communication skills and ability to handle demanding and/or stressful requests to include but not limited to; patients, phone calls, questions, attending physicians and refill request.  

• This position revolves around serving the clinical ophthalmic eye exam, procedure and equipment needs.

• Must understand the urgency of the clinical and physician requests.
