Mental Health Technician 1 - Nights

Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a Mental Health Technician I to join our team of behavioral health professionals supporting our Psychiatric Unit.  

This role is full-time and will work 3 12-hour night shifts/week and will provide assistance in the deliver of direct patient care implementing a plan of care to meet individualized and developmental patient care outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

• Provides basic activities of daily living nursing care while monitoring activity, sleep and intake/output; communicating patients' progress toward desired outcomes and changes to the Registered Nurse.
• Demonstrates competency in all required clinical skills and technologies, sharps maintenance, search and disposition of patient belongings, de-escalation and crisis prevention.
• Monitors patients/their environment and intervenes appropriately to promote a safe and therapeutic milieu.
• Completes forms and flow sheets accurately according to policies and procedures. Reinforces transition/discharge teaching and home care skills.
• Provides information to patients, families and visitors, orients patient to the unit and program, explains rationale for rules or restrictions, provides printed information.

Requirements:

• While experience is not required; 1 (one) year patient care experience is preferred
• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
• BLS Certification by the American Heart Association upon hire
