About the role

Summary

The Safety and Security Operations Specialist (OS) will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and governance of GEICO’s Safety and Security policies, procedures and internal controls testing. The OS will also provide operational support to various teams within Corporate Safety and Security and assist the Senior Management of Security Operations with the oversight and management of the departments third-party suppliers for contract security services.

You Will:

  • Develop, review and edit written safety and security policies and procedures

  • Conduct regular audits of GCSS suppliers and products to ensure compliance and effect updates

  • Assist with the development and implementation of an internal review and testing program to ensure supplier contractual compliance.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety and security policies and standards

  • Provide training and development for various teams

  • Keep informed of current security trends, standards, guidelines, developments, and techniques

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Conform with all company policies and procedures

You Have:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Physical Security Systems best practices, guidelines, and standards

  • Vendor management and joint employer experience

  • Contract and service level agreement compliance

  • Professional board certification in a relevant security discipline preferred

  • Proficient with the following: Microsoft 365 (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Microsoft SharePoint and Power BI knowledge preferred

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems efficiently

  • Excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven self-starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment

  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholder groups

  • Developing and sustaining internal/external customer relationships

  • Good organizational skills

  • Team player with the ability to effectively work individually in a fast-paced environment

Education

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Business, Supplier Management, Criminal Justice, Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS) in related field or equivalent work experience required

Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience with physical security policy development/governance

  • 1-2 years of experience managing or providing oversight for third-party suppliers

  • 1-2 years if experience in testing, validating or audit of internal controls and processes

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment

  • Must be able to be on-call or work weekends and extended periods to implement and maintain physical security systems and support physical security operations

  • Up to 25% travel
