The Field Supplier Quality Engineer (FSQE) is the primary quality interface between Raytheon’s organization and the external supply base. The FSQE provides both communication of requirements and performance feedback to the supplier as well as being a conduit for Quality information back to internal functions within Raytheon. The FSQE’s role includes execution of Supplier Assessments, First Article Inspection validation, Source Inspection, problem resolution, meeting facilitation and continuous improvement activities. In addition, the FSQE is a key player in the management of Supplier performance and development. The FSQE represents Raytheon professionally and supports Raytheon’s Vision, Values, Strategy and Goals in the supply base.

Location Information

The Field Supplier Quality Engineer can reside anywhere from Kentucky to Indiana, and the remaining states east and northeast within 50 miles to a major airport. This assignment requires an estimated travel of 25% to suppliers reporting to the Distributor/SMI (Supplier Managed Inventory) Commodity Team.


What You Will Do

  • Interpreting purchase order quality notes and quality requirements to ensure subcontractor/supplier understanding
  • Ensuring flow down of Product requirements both internally and to sub-tier suppliers and ensuring compliance with quality requirements
  • Assessing subcontractor/supplier quality capabilities throughout the program life cycle to achieve full program objectives
  • Identifying supplier risk and systemic performance issues ensuring root-cause analysis and corrective solutions are identified and implemented with closure plans
  • Driving continuous product / process improvements using statistical / analytical improvement tools such as Six Sigma and lean methodologies
  • Working with other Quality functions and Cross Business Teams (CBTs), to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communications skills
  • Supports the First Article Verification and Source Inspection
  • Participating in supplier design, process change, qualification test, and procedure reviews.
  • Supporting supplier assessments, audits, and reviews

Qualification You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience managing and leading suppliers with Root Cause Corrective Action methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.
  • Experience working within commercial and aerospace / defense regulations and standards - AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, AS9145.
  • Experience working process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing supplier data.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • This position is currently designated as fully remote. However, the successful candidate will be required to work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories).

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Six Sigma, Lean and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.).
  • Experience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test, and delivery.
  • Experience with industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.).
