Colorado Springs Thrift Store Retail Associate

Responsibility Statement: 

As a retail associate your primary responsibility is to be available in any capacity necessary on the retail floor.  You will also be asked at numerous times to help with a register shift.  These are your primary responsibilities, but you will be asked periodically to fill other roles as well. Please be very flexible and willing to jump in and embrace whatever arises.

KEY RESULT AREAS

Stocking product

• Organization: You will stock the shelves and racks with product. Ensure that product is presented in an organized, neat fashion. Product must be on the retail floor in a timely manner after arriving from the production center. Ensure that product is organized and displayed attractively.
• Ensuring cleanliness: As you walk the retail floor, pay attention to the cleanliness of the store. Ensure that it is clean at all times.

Register detail

• Register detail: Periodically you will be asked to work a shift at our cash registers. Please familiarize yourself with this and be available to do this with a moment’s notice. Attention to detail is imperative.
• Customer relations: You are the face of the business to many people throughout the day. We are kind, thoughtful and quick to help.

Late shift

• Late shift detail: All of our staff will be asked to work a late shift (10:00am - 7:00pm) occasionally. You will have some other duties outside of your normal ones when this happens. During this time, you must be aware of things that can be done and take initiative to ensure they are completed.

Inter-staff relations

• Our culture does not sanction incompetence, bad attitudes, unresolved conflicts, etc. All issues need to be dealt with as they come and in a very timely manner. Relationships are very important, and we don’t want to hurt feelings, however we are just as concerned about communicating clearly what are expectations are. New Horizons Thrift Stores expects its associates to attempt to resolve all issues relating to them and to involve their immediate upline when appropriate.

COMPENSATION

• Pay periods are as follows: 1st-14th and 15th-end of the month.
• Compensation is hourly and paid on the 7th and 21st of the month for the preceding pay period.
• This position is non-exempt, which means that overtime pay will be paid for time worked over 40 hours per week.  

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

A New Horizons retail associate should have a strong work ethic and be able to easily function in a fast-paced work environment. He/she should have strong people skills, money handling experience and a basic understanding of mathematic concepts.
