What is special about this role?
With Helix’s growing network of health system partners, innovative Sequence Once, Query Often™ model, and proprietary clinico-genomic dataset, we have a unique opportunity to transform use of genomics as well as how it's reimbursed. As the Associate Director / Director of Market Access and Reimbursement at Helix, you will be in charge of defining and implementing a market access strategy to do just that. With this role, we’re looking for someone who’s comfortable working across all aspects of market access and reimbursement, including developing materials to articulate our value proposition to payers, negotiating contracts with priority payers, determining our billing and coding strategy, and overseeing day-to-day billing operations.
As Associate Director / Director, Market Access & Reimbursement you will:
- Prioritize and manage relationships and contracting activities with priority payers for Helix’s population genomics businesses – including building / growing relationships with tech assessment groups, laboratory benefit managers, and other relevant stakeholders
- Keep up to date with changes in the industry, payer policy trends, and other information to make proactive recommendations on appropriate payer targets and strategies
- Drive the development of tools and materials to effectively communicate our reimbursement strategy and economic value proposition of our platform and unique Sequence Once, Query™ Often model to payers, health systems executives, and other key stakeholders
- Educate cross-functional teams on market access and reimbursement related topics that influence design of our products and adoption and access to germline testing
- Support externally facing teams (sales, partner success, medical affairs) by proactively identifying and resolving reimbursement related issues that could impact customer relationships; where necessary, work directly with our health system partners to resolve any issues
- Identify and execute on novel pilot programs with target payers to explore alternative payment models for germline genomics, with an aim to demonstrate the value of broader use of genetic screening in healthy individuals and our Sequence Once, Query Often model
- Oversee day-to-day reimbursement operations, including driving the reporting and analysis of on key operational measures and developing and implementing strategies to improve them
About you:
- Mission-oriented, with a deep passion for improving people’s lives through DNA
- At least 10 years of experience and a demonstrated track record of achieving favorable reimbursement for molecular diagnostics with commercial payers, developing coding strategies, and supporting revenue cycle management processes
- Strong network / relationships with commercial payers and other organizations / societies that influence access to molecular diagnostics
- In-depth understanding of the US payer landscape and reimbursement trends and mechanisms, with respect to molecular diagnostics
- Able to think outside the box with respect to reimbursement strategies for Helix’s Sequence Once, Query Often™ model
- Comfort with analysis of health economic arguments and the underlying science and clinical impact of molecular diagnostics
- Strong verbal and written communication
- BA or BS required
