Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth and looking for a Senior Software Engineer. The Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world’s computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.
Team Overview
The CSCP data platform team is responsible for developing, managing and supporting the data persistence layer for several CSCP services and teams. The goal of the data platform is to maintain cluster lifecycle as a system of record. It provides the persistence layer for Capacity plan and enables its development and execution through the cluster lifecycle management. It enables CSCP services to share sets of data and metadata about these data sets between services and functions of the pipeline.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to a high-functioning feature team.
- Collaborate closely with multiple teams across Microsoft to define data platform solutions and the technology to support them.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of future architecture for a highly scalable, durable, low latency data platform system.
- Drive innovations leveraging big data, machine learning techniques and distributed systems to deliver business results.
- Gather, define, cost, and implement engineering deliverables.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft cloud infrastructure on Azure.
- Experience in Big data solutions and platform, data pipelines, streaming and batching, structured and unstructured data using Apache pyspark, Databricks, SQL, along with various file stream formats like parquet and delta tables.
- Microsoft big data analytics tools - data lake, synapse and Azure SQL/SQLDW are a big plus.
- Experience working across disciplines, groups, and teams.
- Demonstrated problem solving, organization and communication skills.
- Ability to lead other engineers and coordinate their tasks for larger projects.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
