About the role
Job Description Summary
Location: RemoteThe Executive Director, Channel Strategy, Oncology and 340b will serve as the strategic team lead for the channel design and execution channel decisions related to the oncology portfolio and assigned government programs. This individual will be accountable for the delivery of channel, contracting, and implementation of customer contract/pricing programs for assigned group purchasing organizations (GPO’s) and other assigned external organizations.
This position is responsible for creating business solutions that meet both external customer and NVS business needs by working cross-functionally with internal executive management while gaining customer insights and business knowledge to effectively drive customer satisfaction while managing Novartis business. Additionally, this position will champion the development and cross-functional interaction for optimal US Novartis pricing, Channel Design and Contracting strategies for assigned inline and future initiatives.
This position can be based remotely anywhere in the U.S. (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager. This position will require 30% travel.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages a team of Directors and Associate directors and provides constant feedback and motivation to team members to drive towards common access and sales goals for the US business
- Responsible for complete business ownership of integrated Channel Strategy for in-line and pipeline brands.
- Develops channel contract strategies in line with goals and customer needs; aligns Channel strategy with other key Sales, Marketing, Medical and Managed Care functions and ensures cross-functional support
- Creates and implements contract strategies designed to build long-term relationships with assigned accounts, based on deep understanding of the customer organization, structure, business strategy and priorities
- Builds senior level relationships with key stakeholders; interfaces with key customer to understand their needs, perspective, and issues while analyzing competitive intelligence and customer insights in order to effectively guide and design effective customer strategies
- Develop contracting, value proposition and outcomes-based strategies, leading the negotiation and implementation of customer contract/pricing programs with assigned external organizations
- Work closely with Market Access Portfolio Strategy team, brand teams and pipeline colleagues to effectively prepare organization for new product launches in all relevant customer segments

What you’ll bring to the role:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/degree required, MBA or equivalent preferred
Essential Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience or consulting with significant experience in at least 2 of the following areas: Channel Strategy, Finance, Pricing, or Market Access
- Thorough understanding, knowledge of and experience with US healthcare economics and the drivers of pharmaceutical demand, including pricing and reimbursement
- Extensive experience in healthcare contracting and critical understanding of PBM, National and Regional Health Plan business, Medicare Part D, Medicare Part B, the 340b program and changing market landscape
- Ability to design, build and analyze financial data for business cases, consider sensitivities and present to executive leadership
- Demonstrated prioritization, organizational and analytical skills as well as the ability to create solutions for complex processes and procedures
- Demonstrates high degree of emotional intelligence, adaptability and creativity in solution-oriented ideation – results-oriented, fails fast to learn faster, and embodies an agile, growth mindset
- Deep understanding of US pharmaceutical value chain and its business processes
- Travel as required
