Boeing Information Digital Technology & Security (IDT&S) is seeking a Senior Network Security Design Specialist to join the Network Security Design and Integration team in either Kent, WA; Hazelwood, MO; Seal Beach, CA; North Charleston, SC; or Colorado Springs, CO.

The Network Security Design Specialist defines, develops, integrates, designs and maintains security technical controls in a variety of Information Technology environments and systems.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for protecting our organization's networks from cyber threats. This role involves monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents, as well as implementing security measures to safeguard sensitive information.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Defines security product specifications tools and techniques for intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, data loss prevention, Encryption of data, Identity/Access management and authentication methods

  • Analyzes security designs and recommends design solutions to lower security risk along with being knowledgeable of national and international regulatory requirements

  • Reviews design data elements (threat models, data flow diagrams, requirements, etc.) along with known vulnerabilities associated with Information Technology systems and creates designs and recommendations that lower or eliminate security risk

  • Leads efforts to define security product specifications, tools and techniques for intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, firewall policies, network data flows, encryption of data, virtual private network, SD-WAN, and cloud network security controls and policies

  • Leads efforts to analyze security designs and recommends design solutions that are industry leading or best practice to lower security risk along with being knowledgeable of national and international privacy requirements

  • Leads efforts to review design data elements (threat models, data flow diagrams, requirements, etc.) along with known vulnerabilities associated with IT systems and creates designs and recommendations that lower or eliminate security risk

  • Leads and coordinates plans for new and existing network security projects and future roadmaps

  • Mentors technical staff and management on best practices created both inside the company and from outside of the company

  • Uses strong communication skills to support collaboration with customers, computing architects, other IT organizations, and suppliers

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):         

  • 5+ years of experience with Network security including designing, creating, and maintaining the security systems within an organization's IT network, including the computer systems and data

  • 5+ years of experience designing network and/or security management systems

  • 5+ years of experience in leadership either formally or informally leading teams in a cross-functional environment

  • 3+ years of experience with delivering architecture & design solutions supporting data security

  • 3+ years of experience performing network security implementations or assessments

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher

  • Experience with network firewall technology

  • Experience with security best practices, threats, and mitigating techniques

  • Experience with network communication concepts, principles, and architectures, associated with network planning, design, integration and maintenance

  • Experience with network transport technologies, systems, environments, services, protocols, performance monitoring and diagnostic analysis

  • Experience using analytical and integration skills

  • Application/server product management experience (lifecycle management)

  • Experience with cloud hosted environments, containers, and dev(sec)ops
