As the Specialist, EHS you are responsible for maintaining workplace safety by identifying potential hazards and implementing safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.

Responsibilities:
Workplace Safety & Hazard Prevention
- Identify potential hazards and implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Manage safety programs, including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), Machine Guarding, Spill Cleanup, Hazardous Waste, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, and Contractor Safety.
- Conduct incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and ensure timely completion of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Employee Training & Awareness
- Develop and deliver safety training programs, including new hire training, Leadership through Safety, Contractor Safety Training, and Fire Warden Training.
- Upload and assign required LMS training to appropriate employee groups.
Compliance & Certification Support
- Maintain and support ISO 14001/ISO 45001 certification, including audit preparation and compliance tracking.
- Oversee Safety Data Sheets (SDS) management using safety software.
- Incident Tracking & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and track incidents, accidents, and near misses in EHS management system (eg. Velocity.)
- Follow up on corrective actions from safety programs, ensuring resolution.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety and environmental practices.
Reporting & Documentation
- Generate periodic reports and trend analyses related to safety performance.
- Create and distribute safety meeting minutes and maintain accurate documentation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in EHS, safety, or environmental compliance within a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or industrial setting.
- Experience with OSHA, EPA, and ISO 14001/ISO 45001 compliance and regulations preferred.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and hazard analyses.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety programs, including LOTO, machine guarding, confined space, respiratory protection, hazardous waste management and hazardous material handling.
- Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) management and LMS training systems.
- Proficiency in using EHS management systems (e.g., VelocityEHS) for incident tracking and corrective action management.
- Ability to interpret and apply OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
- Strong analytical skills for trend analysis and report generation.
- Excellent communication and training skills to effectively educate employees at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities for incident investigations and risk assessments.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
- Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement in safety practices.
Physical Job Requirements:
- Ability to walk, stand, and move for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs as needed.
- Comfortable working in varied environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, and industrial noise.
- Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, respirators, and protective clothing.
