About the role

Description

 Academic Urology & Urogynecology of Arizona ( operated by Palo Verde Cancer Specialists) is searching for a skilled Medical Assistant (MA) to join our ever-growing practice! This position would travel between our Litchfield Park, Phoenix Scottsdale, and Sun City office locations.  


Position Summary: Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical tasks under the direction of licensed healthcare providers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  

  • Review EHR and prepare patients records for office visits
  • Maintain patient flow 
  • Prepare equipment, examination rooms, and clean instruments
  • Take vitals, and record patients' health history
  • Administer injections/medications and perform routine testing specimen collection/processing
  • Assist physician with medical treatments, procedures, and exams
  • Check-out patients, assist with referral processing and arrange laboratory services
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies
  • Receive and direct phone calls, schedule appointments, obtain necessary patient information to file and update patient records, and ensure all forms and consents are completed by patients
  • Triage patients in person and on the telephone
  • Answer telephone calls and messages within the same day
  • Place reminder calls to all patients being seen by providers the next day 
  • Other tasks as requested by management

Requirements

Qualification/Requirement:

  • Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written and/or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving occasional, last-minute changes in generally standardized situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies
  • Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times

Education/Training/Experience:

  • Medical Assistant Certification (preferred)
  • Urology experience (preferred)
