Project Director, Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP)

Job Profile Summary

Under limited direction, this position oversees the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) project funded through the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Guides the day-to-day implementation of the program and develops appropriate programs and services that lead to recruitment, enrollment, retention, completion, and job placement of eligible HCOP participants into allied health programs and careers. Responsible for the oversight of the project, with full responsibility for budget administration; efficient/effective implementation of project activities, project deliverables, and reports; and communication with the deans and associate deans of the educational credit programs, internal department including financial aid office, community partners, and HHS. Coordinates with the Health Science career pathway dean and faculty to gain their input and participation in HCOP activities and development of curriculum; ensures the implementation of the project, oversees the evaluation, and coordinates interaction with potential employers. This position oversees all aspects of the project including the summer, pre-matriculation, and HCOP Ambassador program, The position ensures grant timelines and due dates are met, provides consistent direction for the HCOP program, implements continuous improvement processes, submits required performance reports, and meets deliverable commitments, as well as conducts widespread dissemination of project results.

This is a grant-funded temporary position which ends on August 31, 2028. The incumbent is subject to annual performance evaluations and grant contract renewal.

  

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

• An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Minimum Experience/Training:

• Six years of related experience, preferably at a post-secondary educational institution and three years of management experience.

Essential Functions:

• Daily - 20%: Directs, creates, and oversees the vision, implementation timeline and strategies needed for achievement of program goals. Responsible for communicating program regulations and eligibility criteria and ensuring staff understanding. Manages the grant budget according to the plan.

• Weekly - 5%: Coordinates and conducts the HCOP summer program including, but not limited to developing and conducting outreach and recruitment strategies for high school juniors and seniors; confirming logistics of the program activities at various campuses; coordinating bus transportation for students from the high school to the campuses and from campuses to the Simulation Center; overseeing the curriculum development with faculty; coordinating guest speakers to speak to students about allied health careers; processing student stipends and faculty supplement payments; and coordinating student supports including advising, financial aid assistance and case management services to aid in the student's enrollment in the college’s allied health programs.  

• Weekly - 10%: Coordinates and conducts the HCOP Pre-Matriculation program including but not limited to creating an application and referral system for eligible students and collaboration with Allied Health faculty and Broward College advising staff to identify student participants; developing and coordinating the pre-matriculation activities with faculty including career readiness activities, individual advising, mentoring and tutoring; overseeing the curriculum development with faculty; processing student stipend and faculty supplement payments; confirming logistics on the campus for the program; and coordinating student supports including advising, financial aid application assistance and case management services to aid in the student's enrollment in the college’s allied health programs.

• Weekly - 15%: Coordinates and conducts the HCOP National Ambassador program including but not limited to developing and conducting outreach, recruitment and marketing of the program to existing allied health students; overseeing curriculum development with faculty for experiential learning opportunities and experiences; conducting HCOP Ambassador orientation sessions; conducting the grouping of Ambassadors and assigning of faculty mentors; processing student stipend and faculty mentor supplement payments; coordinating group networking and mentoring activities with the faculty mentors; coordinating scholarship distribution with the financial aid office; coordinating and conducting the HCOP showcase event each semester; wor
