Summary: 

Diamondback Energy is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas focused on the acquisition, development, exploration and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas.  Diamondback also has corporate offices in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with Information Technology employees located in both locations.

 The Reservoir and GEO Business Analyst is primarily responsible for application software support, enhancement, administration, license maintenance, upgrade support, and overall business support as it relates to Reservoir and GEO systems.  This position will work closely with the Reservoir and Geology departments along with IT leading the efforts to support existing applications and other IT initiatives specific to these groups.

 Business systems included in the Reservoir and Geology portfolio include, but are not limited to, Aries, Kingdom, Petra, StarSteer, Gohfer, Stimplan, Harmony, Stimplan and various other Reservoir and GEO applications.  

 The Reservoir and GEO Business Analyst is expected have applied experience in oil and gas business acumen, IT software applications and support, and project management.  This role requires a high degree of coordination between business leaders, end users, and various teams within the IT department.

 Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational support of Reservoir and GEO applications and general business support in regard to application support, license maintenance/renewal, user access/issue resolution, and upgrade support  
  • Work closely with IT and Reservoir and GEO teams to diagnose and remediate system risks and issues
  • Take ownership in providing integrity of production application environments to minimize unplanned outages and business disruption
  • Identify and remediate impact of new capability to existing system landscape
  • Provide customer service through meeting ticket Service Level Agreements and effective communication with stakeholders
  • Create, update, and maintain application documentation including functional designs, configuration settings, test scripts, etc.
  • Understand Reservoir and GEO reporting needs, business processes and data
  • Solicit requirements facilitating across multiple business groups to ensure alignment for end-to-end solution designs and holistic value for Diamondback
  • Awareness of industry best practices along with the ability to suggest innovation where possible that brings value to Reservoir and GEOE&P Operations
  • Solicit and document requirements and ensure alignment to value drivers
  • Ensure requirements traceability across project lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment, and operational readiness to ensure solutions meet intended business needs and deliver value to the organization
  • Provide project management support as necessary
  • Work closely with and monitor the activities of external service providers
  • Liaise with software suppliers and other third parties, as required, to provide timely and cost-effective customer support
  • Evaluate and assist with implementation of improvements to existing applications collaboratively with the business
  • Build and maintain close and effective working relationships with Reservoir and GEO teams and the enterprise organization
  • Coordinate across IT teams to define components required for solutions delivery
  • Use broad functional and technical skills, expertise, and experience to help with issue remediation in other areas of IT as needed

 Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
  • At least five (5+) years of experience in the oil and gas industry; specific to Reservoir and GEO Operations
  • Minimum of five (5+) years of experience in IT project and operational work
  • Familiar with ITIL standards and SLA measures
