Attorney General - Commercial & Legal Operations

Primary Purpose of this Position:

This position will be tasked with supporting commercial contracts in both our Cups and Aerosol Divisions; as well as, working cross functionally with our Quality team. In addition, this individual will lead the initiative to transform Ball’s legal operations.
You will be responsible for providing general legal advice and assistance for all matters within Ball Corporation and its U.S. subsidiaries, as directed by the Assistant General Counsel/Regional Legal Leader, except matters requiring intensive government contracting expertise.

 
What will you be responsible for?

• Supports one or more functional areas and works closely with and supports the Assistant General Counsel/Regional Legal Leader in drafting and negotiating various agreements and commercial contracts including NDA’s, sales agreements, services agreements, license agreements, and develops standard terms and conditions and other standard forms and documents in primary area of responsibility.
• Spearhead the initiative to transform Ball’s legal operations, identifying opportunities to implement efficient and cost effective processes and systems.
• Partners cross functionally throughout the organization with teams such as Quality, to ensure compliance with the law.
• Conducts research into a variety of legal issues (including regulations, judicial decisions and legal articles) to provide clear recommendations to the Assistant General Counsel/Regional Legal Leader or subject matter experts.
• Responds to requests for legal assistance or analysis from employees throughout the company in a timely fashion and escalates requests to the Assistant General Counsel/Regional Legal Leader as appropriate.
• Prepares and reviews legal correspondence, forms and agreements.
• Provides support to the Assistant General Counsel and subject matter experts in supervising and providing internal support to outside counsel in litigation and other matters. 
• Flags and escalates appropriate matters to the Assistant General Counsel/Regional Leader and subject matter experts.
• Assists internal clients or customers in their efforts to generate Economic Value Added for Ball Corporation.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Maintains highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and personal ethical behavior and individual responsibility to clients or customers. 

What are we looking for?

• Must have obtained a four (4) year undergraduate degree, a three (3) year law degree, and be admitted to a state bar in good standing (preferably Colorado), or local equivalent for locations outside the United States.
• Job related experience for 3-7 year(s) minimum in the field of general corporate/commercial law.
• Must have worked in a law firm or in a law department representing a publicly traded company.
• Must have prepared legal documents; some litigation and commercial experience is preferred
• Demonstrated willingness to continuously acquire new competencies and tackle new challenges.
• Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
• Proficient with MS applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; preferred experience with iManage, DocuSign and other document management software.

Compensation & Benefits:

• This role is based in Colorado and requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
• Hiring Salary Range: $ 103,000 - 157,205  (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
• This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
