Supervises all staff personnel activities. Enforces all pharmacy departmental policies and procedures. Helps develop departmental procedures with assistance from pharmacy staff members and personnel from other departments to ensure optimal delivery of retail pharmacy services. Manages site-specific pharmacy information systems. Performs daily pharmacist activities as needed. Performs duties as assigned by the AdministratorJOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.
2. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
3. Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
4. Maintains a high level of Customer Service. Assures completion of Customer Complaint documentation and follow-up per Homestar policy and reports customer service issues to Administration.
5. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement. Operational System/Process, and Safety.
6. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.
7. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
8. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated
9. Performs daily pharmacist activities as needed.
10. Assures that staff completes daily responsibilities accurately and efficiently.
11. Coordinates personnel scheduling.
12. Assists in departmental human resources activities:
a) Hiring new or replacement personnel.
b) Assuring that new department employees complete hospital and department orientation.
c) Assuring that employees maintain competency and continuing education.
d) Assuring that employees demonstrate/model the hospitals core values and customer service behaviors in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
e) Counseling employees regarding their work performance.
f) Completing required performance evaluations.
g) Organizes/conducts staff meetings.
13. Develops departmental budgets, goals and objectives and investigates potential budget issues.
14. Resolves problems, situations or questions concerning medication therapy or logistics between Pharmacy and other hospital departments.
15. Assists in developing departmental policies and procedures.
16. Responsible for submitting payroll in accordance with Network policies and procedures.
17. Coordinates, maintains, and troubleshoots site-specific pharmacy information systems.
18. Oversees procurement, storage, reconciliation controlled substance systems. Reports to DEA as required.
19. Assists with review of pharmacy-related patient and family educational materials.
20. Oversees and coordinates site-specific MEDS bedside delivery service assuring adequate staffing and training, timeliness and accuracy, and service excellence.
21. Reports and tracks medication errors. Takes appropriate measures to prevent errors and takes measures to correct.
22. Serves as a medication resource to patients and other departments. Assures patient medication related counseling is offered.
23. Assures that referral tracking data is maintained accurately and completely.
24. Assists in the development of and oversees new projects and services.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains working knowledge of current medications, therapies, and distribution systems. Must have working knowledge of computer applications in pharmacy. Demonstrates ability to supervise pharmacy staff and to address scheduling, productivity, performance and personnel problems or questions in a positive manner.
