Chaplain

Overview

Otterbein Skilled Nursing & Rehab Neighborhood located in Gahanna and New Albany is seeking a Chaplain.  The role of the Chaplain is to provide pastoral care and counseling for the Elders in the neighborhood to ensure their spiritual well-being between both locations.

Status: Full Time

Pay: Starts at $18.50/Hr, increases with experience

Responsibilities

• Conducts and/or provides leadership for worship services, memorial services, communion, recitation of rosary and arranges for consistent events of a “religious” nature.
• Provides or arranges for spiritual guidance for all Residents.
• Works closely with social worker to counsel or arrange for counseling for all Elders.
• Visits hospitalized Elders.
• Encourages local church relations to be maintained as much as possible by Elders.         
• Maintains contact with churches.
• Completes spiritual assessments with each Elder.
• Works closely with social worker to assist with completion of assessments and care planning.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree and Ordained Minister
• Licensure/Certification: CPE preferred or Stephen Ministry certificate

• Understand how to place decision-making in the hands of the Elders whenever possible and appropriate.
• Make prompt and accurate judgments with regard to resident care and emergencies.
