Job Overview
Floater Teacher Assistant implements program activities under the direct supervision of Lead Teacher(s) or Classroom Assistant Teacher(s) and assists in providing developmentally appropriate care and early education to children of Staff, Faculty, and Students of the University by:
Creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children
Support the Center staffing requirements (staff to child ratios) by covering the duties of an Assistant Teacher when a core teaching staff member (teaching staff assigned full-time to a particular classroom) is absent from the classroom
Conducting programs and activities that implement the emergent curriculum of the classroom.
Developing and maintaining mutually supportive relationships with individual parents that enable both parents and teaching staff to meet each child’s individual needs.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must hold a high school diploma and a Child Development Credential OR an Associate’s degree or higher OR 60 hours of college-level coursework in any field. Experience working with young children is required. First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days is required. Required computer experience to include email, and basic word processing.

College coursework in early childhood education, child development or a related field is preferred. 1 year experience in a high quality Early Childhood program is preferred. First Aid and CPR certification prior to employment is preferred.
Work Interactions
The Floater Teacher Assistant reports to the Director of Hoya Kids Learning Center, with day-to-day guidance and direction from the Assistant Director and/or classroom teacher(s). All child care center staff and Georgetown University student assistants work with this position. The ability to positively interact with staff, families and children of Hoya Kids, and GU students is necessary for the smooth operations of the Center. The operating license of the Center can be jeopardized if compliance with regulations (staff-to-child ratios, sanitation, etc) is not maintained. Declining enrollment may occur if quality care and positive relations are not established and maintained with families, who are Faculty, Staff and Students of the University.

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$17.95 - $26.84Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
