The Embedded Systems team writes and tests the first layer of software that runs on our autonomous vehicles. We connect our vehicles to reality, bridging the gap between the AV’s sensors and actuators and the highly sophisticated self-driving software - all while focusing on quality and safety. The Integrated Systems Test team within Embedded Systems owns system bench bring-up and integration activities and works with the full diversity of software and hardware on the vehicle. This is a challenging mission that gives us the opportunity to define the testing methodology and the tools needed. 

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work with developers, systems engineers, product managers and test leads to create test plans and develop automated test cases and tools for requirements and product verification
  • Design creative subsystem and system level test cases to verify, stress, and break software running on the actual hardware.
  • Develop functional system integration plan and perform new feature bring up and integration in collaboration with multiple cross functional teams.
  • Find, characterize, debug and manage issues through resolution on hardware and in embedded software
  • Develop automated test cases in Python based on test procedures
  • Develop internal tools to help other developers and testers use and test the product
  • Develop tools to post-process data from test automation.
  • Develop test automation and tools to improve test coverage, test efficiency and increase ability to do testing in house.
  • Communicate test results to product owners and internal customers.

What you must have:

  • 7+ years experience defining tests and developing test automation 
  • Ability to write and document clear Python code
  • Experience writing test plans and defining test cases 
  • Experience with hardware in the loop testing
  • Experience in White Box, Black Box, Functional, System, Regression, Integration using both Manual and Automation Techniques
  • Experience in writing design specific documentation
  • Experience developing for Linux environments
  • Experience with ROS or other robotics middleware platforms
  • Experience with Continuous Integration systems (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI)
  • Proven knowledge of CAN and Ethernet buses and diagnostic tools for Automotive and experience using Vector tools
  • Prior experience in working with components requiring sophisticated thermal solutions (e.g. cooling system) and computing components such as, but not limited to, GPUs, CPUs, SSDs, and network switches
  • Experience with networking protocol or telematics or wireless technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent real world experience
  • Familiarity with Embedded Systems
  • Strong debugging skills
  • Outstanding communication and written skills

Bonus points! 

  • Experience developing in C, C++
  • Familiarity with GitHub and git experience
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262
  • Experience testing medical devices, aviation, automotive, or other safety critical application
  • Experience writing software that interfaces with hardware
  • Experience with simulation and profiling tools

 

The salary range for this position is $146,300 - 215,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
