We are looking for an experienced scientist who will play a key role in driving research & development of new health sensing capabilities and scientific validation of our products. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing and industry-leading health technology company that is revolutionizing the way individuals monitor and optimize their health.

The Senior Clinical Research Scientist will be responsible for planning and execution of our research initiatives in areas like reproductive health, sleep, stress and other aspects of health. You will also contribute to cross-functional initiatives involving product development, marketing, and business development, to ensure that our product and insights are grounded in science. And you will play a crucial role in establishing and maintaining relationships with external research partners, academic institutions, healthcare organizations and industry partners.

East Coast Time Zone preferred but not mandatory.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the conceptualization, design and execution of internal and external research projects to a) support the development and validation of new health sensing capabilities that power Oura’s health features and b) generating evidence to demonstrate the impact of Oura’s products in improving health outcomes
  2. Establish and manage research partnerships with academic organizations, healthcare institutions, commercial partners, and key opinion leaders to foster collaborative research initiatives
  3. Contribute to the development and implementation of Oura’s scientific research strategy that is aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
  4. Collaborate with data scientists, research project managers and data engineers to ensure successful operational execution of research projects and contribute your scientific expertise to methodology development and data analysis
  5. Ensure compliance with regulations, ethical guidelines, and data privacy requirements throughout the research process
  6. Lead the dissemination of research findings by writing blog posts, whitepapers and manuscripts and collaborate with product development teams to translate research findings into product enhancements and features
  7. Foster cross-functional collaboration with product, marketing, business development and other teams within Oura and champion a culture of scientific rigor and innovation within the science team as well as across the company

Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree (e.g. PhD, MD) in a health related scientific discipline (e.g., physiology, medicine, reproductive health, neuroscience, or a related field)
  2. Proven track record (>3 years) of leading and managing scientific research projects, ideally within the consumer health technology and/or medical device industry
  3. Strong understanding of research design, methodologies, and regulatory requirements
  4. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines
  5. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain partnerships with external research organizations and healthcare professionals
  6. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  7. Proficiency with data analysis, statistical techniques and scientific computing tools (e.g. python, R) commonly used in clinical research
  8. Passion for improving human health and well-being through innovative technologies and evidence-based approaches
  9. Experience in building, managing and/or mentoring a team of researchers is highly desirable
  10. Knowledge of wearable technologies, sleep physiology, and/or related health domains is highly desirable.
