A Day in the Life

This position reports to the Sr. Director of FP&A, Strategic Finance, and IBP for the Surgical OU, a $6B+ portfolio that spans a wide array of capital and consumable products across all stages of the product lifecycle, including the Hugo Surgical Robotics system.

This role will sit in our on North Haven, CT office (we may consider MN or CO).

The Sr. Program Manager, Strategic Finance will lead revenue and margin forecasting efforts by closely partnering with:

  • The Surgical strategy organization to understand how markets, procedures, and products drive business strategy
  • Global BU and regional finance teams to ensure strategic insights translate into financial commitments
  • Demand and supply teams to align financial commitments with supply signals as part of the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process

This highly visible role requires strong collaboration with senior leaders across functions and involves regular presentations to the Surgical OU President and CFO.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Surgical Strategy Business Partnering:

  • Partner with strategy and marketing teams to consolidate and stress-test market models and share assumptions
  • Model P&L forecast scenarios to support strategic business cases from organic and inorganic investments
  • Lead financial modeling and cross-functional business for due diligence on inorganic growth opportunities. Core team member for new acquisitions.
  • Finance lead for the Surgical China growth strategy, collaborating with BU finance teams, China finance teams, and tax colleagues
  • Assist in development of presentations to EXCOM and the board of directors
  • Manage budgeting and spend oversight for the Surgical Strategy team

Quarterly Financial Forecasting Process:

  • Direct and lead processes for the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Strategic Plan, and quarterly forecasting cycles
  • Develop and maintain models for global revenue & margin forecasting, including analysis of prior forecasts, market trends, IBP data, pricing strategies, and FX impact.

Integrated Business Planning (IBP):

  • Present monthly financial forecast updates to the Surgical President and CFO during the Surgical Executive Management Business Review (MBR)
  • Drive IBP best practices across Surgical Finance, including global BU finance teams and OLM/RLM regional finance teams
  • Act as the liaison between Surgical OU IBP efforts and Corporate IBP teams, ensuring clear communication of deadlines, system enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Utilize Anaplan, PowerBI, CMR, and offline market models to provide actionable insights for leadership.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A)
  • 7+ years of strategic finance experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years strategic finance experience.

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Advanced Degree (M.S., MBA) or professional qualification (CFA, CPA)
  • Proficient in systems – Anaplan, PowerBI, OneStream, Control
  • Medical device experience
  • Strong analytical and business partnership skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Proven ability to take ownership of critical reporting and analysis
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in team environments
  • Advanced quantitative analysis and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to translate complex data into concise insights for leadership
  • High integrity, self-confidence, initiative, and motivation  
  • Solid foundation of accounting, financial planning, and business management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and PowerBI
