Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking to hire a Technical Services Section Supervisor (PSA, Opt. 8E) for The Office of Mines and Minerals. This position supervises technical staff engaged in engineering, hydro-geologic, and wildlife as it relates to coal permit application review and subsequent monitoring of coal mine performance in meeting the regulatory requirements. The position will also serve as the lead technical expert in evaluating subsidence damage minimization and mitigation efforts required in planned subsidence permits; evaluate mine layout and design and pillar stability design; evaluate the accuracy of projected surface and subsurface impacts for planned subsidence modeling; conduct subsidence complaint investigations concerning structure and land damage; train and assign subordinate staff in subsidence control permitting to assist with the workload as necessary; attend public hearings in areas affected by the proposed mine; provide explanation of rules, regulations, and effects of the proposed permitting actions to citizens; and travels in and out of State in performance of duties. Land Reclamation is a Division within the Department of Mines and Minerals and is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the Surface-Mined Land Conservation and Reclamation Act of 1971 and the Surface Coal Mining Land Conservation and Reclamation Act of 1980. This enables Land Reclamation to function as the state's regulatory authority for the federal Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act. Essential Functions
