About the role

Mayo Clinic is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Hematology/Oncology team. This position primarily focuses on the Immediate Cancer Clinic, our active treatment symptom management clinic, with rotations to the inpatient Hematology/Oncology consult service. Three other advanced practice providers in the Immediate Cancer Clinic make up this team and allows for self-scheduling. Responsibilities: As an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at Mayo Clinic, you will utilize advanced health assessment and decision-making skills, honed through a formal educational program that meets professional criteria. Your role will encompass comprehensive patient care, focusing on the individual as a whole. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments
  • Ordering, conducting, and interpreting diagnostic tests
  • Prescribing pharmacological agents and treatments
  • Implementing non-pharmacological therapies
  • Teaching and counseling individuals, families, and groups
  • Demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan
  • Assessing data reflective of the patient's status and interpreting information relative to age-
    specific needs
  • Leading through involvement in committees, team projects, education, and research
  • Actively seeking to improve nursing practice through performance improvement initiatives
  • Working in a symptom management clinic that is APP-led and involves nursing triage

New Grads will not be considered at this time, 2+ years of APP experience in Hematology/Oncology preferred


Acute Care Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current AZ RN and APRN license and certification as an ACNP, or AGACNP.  


Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.  


Additional Qualifications: 
Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required.
