Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector has an opening for a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals, and the position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

This position may be filled as a Level 3 Principal Cyber Systems Engineer or Level 4 Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer. Additionally, this position is contingent upon capturing program award(s) along with acquiring and maintaining customer and/or business funding. Furthermore, this position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

-Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.

-Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

-Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

The selected candidate will be part of a team responsible for designing and implementing cyber security requirements and controls for advanced space systems. This includes risk assessment of the system of interest to attackers by applying risk analysis methodologies such as attack trees and cyber threads (drawn from security CONOPS) to identify vulnerabilities and specify mitigations. The selected candidate will also be responsible for cyber requirements management to analyze and decompose requirements to satisfy security principles: Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability as well as Resilience across the system (Elements, Subsystem, Components) and associated cyber metrics


Basic Qualifications for Level 3 Principal Cyber Systems Engineer:  

-Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5+ years of engineering experience OR

-Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 3+ years of engineering experience OR

-PhD Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 1+ year(s) of engineering experience

-Candidate must have active SCI access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years, at time of application, and prior to start date OR

-Candidate must have an active, current, or within scope DOD Top Secret security clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years, at time of application, and prior to start date as well as the ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.
