Senior Manager- Retail Store Design

Wayfair’s Physical Retail Design team is seeking a Senior Manager to build and manage projects with our store design team that will enable Wayfair’s physical retail agenda. Wayfair intends to build a physical retail platform across all Wayfair brands. We believe there is a white space in the brick-and-mortar market and an opportunity to create a differentiated retail experience that showcases the breadth and depth of our catalog. This presents a great opportunity for Wayfair to develop and execute a retail strategy at scale. To achieve this, Wayfair is looking to build a team that can define and drive our ambitious physical retail agenda.

This dynamic leader is responsible for managing and developing our relationships with retail design partners including: architects, fixture manufacturers and third party project managers. This role is responsible for collecting key design inputs across: Operations, Merchandising, Creative, etc and translate inputs into architectural store concepts to achieve the goals of the business. Organization is key in this role; this lead works across a number of brands and sites simultaneously.

This position is based in Boston, MA 4 days a week. Fully remote not available. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop strategy for designing and project managing the concepting and architecture drawings for a brand of physical retail stores. Scope includes: store footprints, fixture development, maintain architecture partnerships, etc.
• Translate store design process into executable plan and timeline to support numerous stakeholders including: brand, visual merchandising, operations, safety and facilities
• Build and maintain a robust network of architects and millworkers to support design across the store 
• Partner with the Physical Retail teams to ensure Design supports and enhances brand, marketing, merchandising, store operations, etc.
• Work with Real Estate, Builds and Retail leadership to set clear objectives and timelines for design by brand and by site
• Craft design process that supports initial and iteration of design based on key business learnings
• Manage robust project management timeline, design budget and communications to relevant stakeholders

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 8+ years in general business, spatial design or project management
• Demonstrated business experience, including experience in project management and/or physical retail design
• Strong business management skills; demonstrated ability to create and lead important strategic initiatives amongst internal and external stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders at the same time
• Ability to implement strategic plans and drive results with multiple teams and stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced learning environment
• Senior stakeholder management; able to collaborate across all levels of the organization to achieve objectives
• Travel required
