The IFF Core Texturants Manufacturing Technology organization supports the business by working with integrated operations to deliver continuous improvement in process safety and year-over-year productivity improvements.  The Manufacturing Technology (MT) team drives process technology excellence and ensures a strong technical foundation to enable:

  • Safe and reliable manufacture of products that meet our performance requirements.
  • Quick and accurate response to business and customer needs.
  • Effective execution of capital projects, product scale-ups, and process changes.
  • Continuous improvement in process safety, product quality, cost, and capacity.


As the Rockland site MT Manager, you will lead cross-functional teams and ensure alignment between SHE (Safety, health, and Environmental), commercial, manufacturing, and R&D.  Your team will:

  • Own process safety assessments and improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvements in safety, quality, cost, and capacity.
  • Develop, document, and own process technology information.
  • Facilitate process start-ups & product scale-ups. 
  • Provide technical support for capital projects.
  • Leverage Digital technology and implement Lean Six Sigma practices to improve the efficiency of our processes.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Have direct responsibility for Manufacturing Technology & Process engineers who are embedded in the carrageenan manufacturing site in Rockland, Maine.  
  • Own critical safety initiatives at the Rockland site.
  • Drive implementation of the IFF process safety standard and ensure continued compliance.
  • Support sustainability initiatives, and promote safety.
  • Provide overall project management, tracking, and reporting for process improvement projects and CapEx projects within assigned areas.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, e.g., Site Operations, Site Engineering, Site and Corporate SHE, Corporate Engineering, Finance, consultants, and vendors).
  • Attract and retain strong technical resources, support the growth and development of technical team members, and provide input for succession planning.

Job Requirements

 

  • BS in Chemical, Biotechnology, Food, or Mechanical Engineering; Master level qualification a plus.
  • 7 years of experience in a chemical, food, or related manufacturing environment.
  • Production experience with carrageenan or other hydrocolloids is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and experience with process safety management including OSHA PSM.
  • Competence in engineering fundamentals with the ability to interpret and apply broad basis principles, theories, and concepts.
  • A proven history of managing and developing a team of technical professionals.
  • Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, and risk-based management skills.
  • Data-based decision-making and strong results-driven/action-orientated approach to leadership.
  • Strategic agility with foresight and the ability to create alternate plans.
  • A demonstrated history of bringing projects in safely, on time, and on budget & general understanding of economic factors affecting the business. 
  • The ability to effectively present in both informal and formal training settings.
