The IT Department at Adler University is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Developer to join its dynamic team. This role will be instrumental in supporting the University’s technology infrastructure and academic mission by developing, maintaining, and enhancing web-based applications and tools.
While the role may be performed remotely, the Senior Software Developer will report directly to the Executive Director of Technology and is expected to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support university-wide initiatives and deliver enhanced automation tools to further business operations in support of Adler University and its mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain custom applications and integrations using RESTful APIs.
- Create and manage SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models.
- Implement user-friendly front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, propose solutions, and deliver reliable software aligned with academic and operational goals.
- Conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high performance and scalability.
- Provide technical documentation and user training as needed.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and recommend best practices to enhance systems and processes.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development.
- Strong proficiency in:
o REST API design and integration
o SQL and relational databases
o Stored Procedures & other database acumen within SQL Server Management Studio
o Front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a distributed team environment.
- A demonstrated interest in supporting technology within an academic or mission-driven setting.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience working in higher education or similar nonprofit environments.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
Compensation: $87,000.00 to $107,000.00 USD
