We are seeking a talented and experienced Intellectual Property Lawyer to join our global legal team to protect, manage, and enhance D&B’s intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in working with inventors, product managers, marketing and regional legal team members to maintain globally consistent practices and standards, to secure patents and trademarks and build a robust IP portfolio, to safeguard our intellectual property assets, evaluate IP as part of M&A transactions, and manage licensing agreements and AI-related issues to support our growth and innovation.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Intellectual Property Lawyer to join our global legal team to protect, manage, and enhance D&B’s intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in working with inventors, product managers, marketing and regional legal team members to maintain globally consistent practices and standards, to secure patents and trademarks and build a robust IP portfolio, to safeguard our intellectual property assets, evaluate IP as part of M&A transactions, and manage licensing agreements and AI-related issues to support our growth and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Patent Strategy and Portfolio Management: Collaborate with inventors and technical teams to identify innovative technologies and inventions worthy of patent protection.
- Trademark Strategy and Portfolio Management: conduct trademark clearance searches; advise marketing team with respect to product naming and brand management; maintain licensing standards and guidelines, including with respect to D&B’s Worldwide Network; monitor trademark usage and maintain global trademark portfolio.
- Licensing Agreements: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of licensing agreements with respect to D&B capabilities across different business units, including transactions involving use of D&B data in large language models and generative AI use cases.
- Due Diligence: Conduct due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships related to intellectual property assets.
- Education and Training: Provide training and guidance to internal teams on intellectual property matters and best practices; maintain company-wide policies and procedures related to intellectual property.
Key Requirements
- 4-8 years of relevant law firm or in-house work experience
- Strong knowledge of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyright, and trade secrets.
- Understanding of artificial intelligence and associated concepts around copyright, ownership, and use restrictions is a plus.
- Understanding of intellectual property issues specifically relating to data, including database licenses is a plus.
- Experience in drafting complex licensing agreements.
- Able to work independently to manage projects, coordinate resources, and oversee outside counsel
- Able to communicate clearly and efficiently to different audiences, and comfortable interacting and providing recommendations to senior business leaders
- JD from an ABA law school and admittance to practice in a US state with eligibility for a limited license for in-house counsel.
