About Us:
The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is an independent, non-profit biomedical research organization located in Torrance, California. In dozens of laboratories throughout the campus, researchers are working to unravel the mysteries of heart and kidney disease, cardiac complications in newborns, chronic lung disease, skin cancer, sickle cell disease, disorders of the autoimmune system, and much more. Many of these projects are collaborative in nature, involving experts from different areas of specialization. Our discoveries have prevented blindness in newborns, enabled premature infants with fragile lungs to breathe and allowed children with rare, often fatal diseases to grow up healthy and strong.
 

Requirements: 

• GED or HS Diploma
• Golf cart operation (no license required)
• Minimum 2 years warehouse, receiving, or similar job experience
• Use of personal vehicle

Essential Duties and Skills:

• Basic Computer Skills
• Shipping documentation processes: receiving, labeling
• Checking deliveries against purchase orders
• General safety procedures/lifting and handling bio/chemical products
• Logging receipts into the purchasing system
• Ability to work as a member of a team
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines
• Ability to interact in an appropriate and professional manner
• Demonstrated cooperative behavior and positive-problem solving and conflict resolution skills
• Available to work dependable, flexible shift
• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials, supplies, and equipment against packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documents.
• Prepare and package outgoing shipments according to carrier, institutional, and regulatory guidelines (including DOT, IATA, and OSHA standards for biomedical/research-related materials).
• Ensure hazardous materials, dry ice, and temperature-sensitive shipments are packaged, labeled, and documented correctly.
• Update shipping/receiving logs and inventory management systems (manual or electronic). Maintain accurate records for compliance with purchasing, finance, and regulatory audits.
• Monitor and report stock shortages, damaged goods, or discrepancies
• May be required to work with sensitive biomedical shipments (temperature-controlled samples, reagents, or hazardous chemicals).
