About the Department of Nutrition

The Department of Nutrition at MSU Denver aims to prepare diverse students for successful careers in food, nutrition, and dietetics by providing quality education that is culturally sensitive and instills a desire for lifelong learning. This department is home to award-winning faculty and staff, who prioritize students and provide opportunities to grow and learn in the field of nutrition and dietetics. The Department of Nutrition houses undergraduate and graduate programs, including a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Master of Science in Nutrition. The Department is also home to accredited programs, including undergraduate and graduate-level Didactic Programs in Dietetics (DPD), a Dietetic Internship Program, and a Pathway Two Lactation Training Program. Position Summary

The Department of Nutrition at MSU Denver invites applications for a non tenure track Clinical Instructor of Nutrition (.5 FTE). This 9-month appointment has the opportunity to be renewed and will begin on January 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of interns.
  • Precept new interns in the practice of medical nutrition therapy in an acute hospital setting. This includes orientation, training, evaluation and remediation with interns.
  • Visit and assess intern progress and preceptor needs in other clinical settings.
  • In conjunction with the Program Director, plan, coordinate and teach the orientation and skill development seminars.
  • In conjunction with the Program Director, oversee and evaluate intern projects, assignments and presentations.
  • Assist the Program Director in other supervised practice duties as needed including utilizing MyClinicalExchange for tracking interns and other software programs as needed.
  • Remain competent and current through maintaining RDN credentials, self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses required by the supervisor.
  • Ensure fair, equitable and considerate treatment of prospective and enrolled interns.
  • Follow contractual obligations as outlined in the MSU Denver Faculty Employment Handbook.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Dietetics, Food & Nutrition, Food Science/Technology, Public Health Nutrition or other nutrition-related field
  • Current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
  • Minimum of three years professional experience in nutrition and dietetics since becoming an RDN

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience as a clinical registered dietitian nutritionist in an acute care facility
  • Recent experience as a clinical dietitian nutritionist in a HealthOne facility
  • Experience providing medical nutrition therapy to high acuity patients
  • Two years’ experience
