Storm Drain Maintainer Lead will maintain and operate the storm telemetry and operational system. Respond, mark and clear to NM811 standard and Emergency One Call in accordance with State Statue Chapter 62 Article 14 NMSA 1978 Excavation law.

DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES

1. Operate Vactor and other light to heavy equipment in adverse weather conditions.

2. Perform roadway snow removal operations during winter months.

3. Lead and train Storm Drain Maintainers to be competent in all maintenance and storm telemetry and operational systems which includes overrides systems but is not limited to focal points of contact for vendors, upgrades, and repairs. 

4. Perform preventative maintenance; troubleshoot system, pump and level control system maintenance, program systems adjustments remotely and/or on-site; Conduct inventory of storm systems and complete reports. Generate computer-based daily logs and enter work orders in the Microsoft, excel spreadsheets.

5. Lead and train subordinate storm drain employees to complete and document daily safety inspections and operate on and off-road vehicles and equipment in accordance with safety standards which includes but is not limited to the safe operational status of equipment; testing of tire conditions and air pressure; brakes; mechanical and engine fluids; water; brake lights; headlights; and other related systems and equipment. 

6. Attend safety and other meetings as required.

7. Lead and train Storm Drain Maintainers to read and interpret County system maps. 

8. Utilize and maintain traffic control devised as needed which includes cones, directing traffic, mobile attenuators, and barricades. 

9. Prepare reports including storm drainage corrective maintenance reports.

10. Lead and train Storm Drain Maintainers to use radio procedures to communicate with field and base to coordinate and complete storm, drainage assignments. 

11. Perform confined space entries as necessary. 

12. Perform first aid or CPR as necessary. 

13. Lead and train Storm Drain Maintainers to operate and maintain mechanical and electrical driven pumps, hydrants, hoses, and other auxiliary electric motors and mechanical engine equipment. 

14. Lead and train Storm Drain Maintainers in a teamwork crew setting, responsible for maintenance of all Storm Drain Infrastructures under high pressure heavy equipment, including inspecting all infrastructure with culvert crawler camera.

15. Lead and train Storm Drain Maintainers to operate light to heavy motorized equipment which includes but is not limited to: Vactor, excavator, bulldozer, motor grader, backhoe, trench digger, bucket truck, small crane, lifts, utilize building/construction trade tools, equipment, and materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school diploma or GED, plus a minimum of five (5) years general construction experience that includes the operation of various types of heavy equipment with one (1) of those years including the operation of vector, motor graders and excavators, or dozers, or a combination thereof, and four (4) years of pump operations, storm water telemetry system, supervisory control and data acquisitions and maintenance experience.

PREFERENCES

1. First Aid certified preferred.

2. American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, CPR certification preferred. 

3. Wastewater 2 Level certification preferred.
