We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Director, GCIO CCO - Asia Markets.

The GCIO Chief Control Office (CCO) team plays an important role in enabling the bank to operate within its risk appetite by ensuring efficient and effective risk and control management.  We do this by providing operational risk and control expertise, specialist technical knowledge and a deep understanding of the businesses and functions we serve. Key activities include implementation and oversight of the Group’s Risk Management Framework, ongoing and targeted controls assessments, implementing and maintaining robust risk governance, and championing a proactive risk culture. GCIO CCO works closely with partners across all lines of defence and is responsible for maintaining positive relationships with our regulators and external partners.

 

The role holder will be responsible for:

 

  • You will be a leader within the GCIO Chief Control Office (GCIO CCO) Function that directly supports a number of Asia CIOs within HSBC. Our purpose is to take accountability for GCIO Risk Management so GCIO can achieve strategic outcomes for HSBC, while remaining resilient and secure.

 

This will be achieved by:

 

  • Enable Markets to deliver strategic growth safely and securely.
  • Help CIOs make data-driven decisions to manage HSBC’s residual risk.
  • Improve Markets’ understanding of key technology, Cyber and Data risks and their role in mitigating them.
  • Ensure CIO teams implement local technology risk policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, and support adoption of new or changed regulations.
  • Partner with Risk and Control Owners to ensure risk positions are understood and embedded in control design, implementation, and metrics.
  • Identify, develop, and support talent.
  • The role will have regional and market responsibilities.
  • The role holder will lead a team of CCOs to value based and outcome focussed way of working, including driving cultural change to deliver strong integrated risk management across Markets and the business.

 

Governance and Committee Memberships

 

  • Member of GCIO AME CCO Leadership Team
  • Member of TRCB Management working group
  • Attend the GCIO AME RCMM
  • Local Risk Oversight forums (ROF)

 

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

Stakeholder Management

 

  • Act as a primary point of contact across key Asia CIOs for all matters related to risk & controls
  • Manage executive updates to Market ExCO and boards
  • Effectively manage relationships across 1LOD and 2LOD/3LOD partners – drive risk and audit reviews and subsequent actions through to resolution by partnering with 1LOD/GCIO teams
  • Break siloes across the GCIO function and HSBC to achieve risk management objectives of the business

 

Functional Risk & Controls

 

  • Drive risk and control decision-making based on quality data and commercial analysis, actively challenging poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviours.
  • Manage end-to-end regulatory inspections pertaining to technology, Cyber and Data risk management
  • Lead a programmatic approach to resolving key control issues in Asia and Middle East.
  • Oversee emerging risks, strategic business initiatives and local change activity
  • Set the regional control assurance plan and approve prioritisation of remediation across markets
  • Drive consistent communication, clarif
