Director, VC & Agency Partnerships
TLDRAbout the role
Hi! 👋 I’m Val Bartlett, VP of Sales at TLDR.
If you’re reading this, you know how to build strategic partnerships and unlock revenue at scale. I’m looking for a Director of VC and Agency Partnerships to establish and grow TLDR’s relationships with VCs, incubators, and agencies—helping us drive revenue through their portfolios and networks. You’ll be building the playbook for how we engage with these key players, owning the strategy and execution.
You’ll work closely with me and our sales team to create a repeatable, scalable funnel that brings in new advertisers and strengthens TLDR’s position as the go-to media partner for startups and tech-focused brands.
Who We Are
TLDR is a collective of technical newsletters on startups, software engineering, AI, cybersecurity, marketing, product management, and more, with over 5 million subscribers.
Our mission is to build the paper of record for the tech industry, the trusted source that people who work in tech rely on to stay ahead of the curve.
About the Role
Develop and execute TLDR’s GTM strategy for VCs, incubators, and agencies—including sales process, messaging, and revenue attribution.
Own a target account list and create scalable strategies for winning and expanding business with VC firms, incubators, and agencies.
Identify portfolio companies with strong revenue opportunities and work with Sales Leads and AEs to drive deals at the portco level.
Leverage your relationships and expertise in the VC ecosystem to position TLDR as a premium advertising opportunity for our ideal customer profile (ICP).
Educate and influence VCs and their portfolio companies on how TLDR can accelerate their growth through advertising.
Spend ~80% of your time engaging with VCs and incubators and ~20% with agencies to drive revenue opportunities.
About You
3+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or media sales—with a proven track record of working with VCs, incubators, and agencies.
Strong network and existing relationships within the VC ecosystem (Platform teams, Marketing/PR leads, etc.).
Ability to navigate complex B2B deal cycles and influence multiple stakeholders.
Experience working in media, sponsorship, or advertising sales is a major plus.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills—you can clearly articulate value and close deals.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where you can build and refine processes from the ground up.
Why You'll Love It
Competitive base salary + performance-based compensation via our sales incentive plan.
100% Remote Company with a team that shares a common goal.
Annual team offsite—we got together in Denver in Summer '24. Where should we go next?
Unlimited PTO—most team members take 2-3 weeks off per year, plus holidays.
401(k) plan.
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits with a 100% paid option.
Paid parental leave.
Hardware stipend—we’re on MacBook Pro M3s, plus a new monitor, headset, and chair on us.
Learning & Development stipend—we are a curious group that believes in continuous learning.
Autonomy and agency to build a critical new function within a high-growth media company.
