- Serves as a resource person to employees.
- Investigates reports of complaints/concerns relating to patient care and/or employee well-being
- Assists with QAPI activities with appropriate data collection, aggregation, and analysis, taking action and reporting of results according to Coastal Hospice’s QAPI plan.
- Reviews patient medical records for compliance with federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards and policies and guidelines.
- Completes accurate and timely record review to ensure the integrity of documentation quality and compliance.
- Recognizes opportunities for documentation improvement using strong critical-thinking skills.
- Supports Health Information Management Specialist (HIMS) as a backup for collecting and tracking compliance documentation for billing.
- Completes well-timed follow-up case reviews on all cases with priority given for resolution of those with clinical documentation clarifications
- Reports trends in documentation errors to Director of Quality Improvement and Education Coordinator
- Recommends processes and procedures to benefit clinical services
Qualifications
- Understands principles of continuous QAPI
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to successfully multi-task
- Excellent organization skills
- Registered with a license to practice in the state of Maryland or compact state
- Experience and familiarity with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office Suite
