Job Description

The Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) leads the derivation, assessment, and consolidation of budgets and forecasts for our Global Central Functions. This role formulates short-term forecasts, discerns risks and opportunities to spend projections, challenges leadership on cost reduction opportunities and productivity advancements, contemplates and models long-range strategic plans, and partners with leaders on strategic initiatives and investments. This position straddles needing to understand the detailed rigor required in supporting Central Functions with the need to effectively communicate higher-level takeaways, trends, and themes to senior leadership. This role acts as an integral part of the broader finance team, serving as a key connection point for business unit finance teams. This position is indexed towards driving FP&A process improvement throughout the corporation.

Position location: Deerfield, IL (Hybrid schedule with on-site required Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) 

RESPONSIBLIITIES:

What you will be doing

  • Develop and coordinate repeatable reporting and analysis process for consolidating budgets and monthly forecasts for Central Functions. 
  • Be an integral, proactive, and strategic partner with the Central Functions leaders, e.g., CIO, CHRO, CFO/FLT, and General Counsel.  Lead the preparation and compilation of the annual operating budgets and rolling forecasts for Central Functions, which may include company-wide or functional area-specific modeling, time-series analysis, and graphic presentation of financial data.
  • Lead development and execution of accurate, timely and actionable financial reporting to Central Function leadership (both finance and business leaders).
  • Communicate financial results and forecasts to Central Function budget owners in a meaningful way that is readily understood, actionable and reflects insight into key issues affecting each function.
  • Deliver recommendations on initiatives to functional leaders to create value/optimize G&A.
  • Partner with Business Unit Finance team, conveying insights on Central Function expense embedded in Business Unit P&Ls.
  • Develop succinct, effective processes to align myriad, disharmonized, source-level data to higher-level unified data structures.
  • Support monthly and quarterly variance analysis of Central Function performance versus annual budget, forecast and prior year.
  • Maintain and develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives for Central Functions. Develop and track ROI models for strategic investments to optimize G&A expense.
  • Complete ad hoc reports or analysis in support of special projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related field required. 7+ years of experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of management experience required
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
  • Previous experience with financial modeling and a high level of competency with spreadsheet programs and financial modeling development
  • Previous experience with Oracle Smart View and SAP GUI (Graphical User Interface) in SAP ERP

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $105,000 USD - $165,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
