Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a driven, attentive Program Manager for immediate employment with AECOM’s East Region Class I Railroad Team. This individual will work remotely, reporting to AECOM’s Mechanicsburg, PA office, and supporting AECOM’s Class I Railroad Public Improvements team on various projects. This role offers the ability to grow into a task leadership role with additional responsibilities.
- Manages complex, large-scale projects with significant scope and budget, overseeing all aspects of project lifecycle from initiation to closure
- Develops and implements project management methodologies and best practices to ensure consistent delivery across multiple projects
- Acts independently as the IE representative, collaborating with consulting firms to align deliverables with original scope and budget requirements
- Conducts regular risk assessments and develops mitigation strategies to address potential issues that may impact project success
- Manages projects with great complexity, including multi-disciplinary teams and diverse stakeholder groups
- Provides leadership and mentorship to direct reports, fostering their professional development and enhancing team performance
- Responsible for development and execution of AECOM's strategic plan related to Class I Rail and similar clients
- Supports and delivers capital design projects throughout the East Region and US, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and internal teams
- Prepares and presents comprehensive project status reports to senior management and clients, highlighting progress, issues, and recommendations
- Manages project budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting
- Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and AECOM policies
- Identifies and pursues new business opportunities within the program management domain, contributing to the company's growth objectives
- Facilitates knowledge sharing and best practice adoption across project teams and the wider organization
- Participates in industry events and professional development activities to stay current with emerging trends and technologies in program management
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Civil Engineering or similar field plus 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership
- Due to the projects associated with this position a US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in engineering design, construction inspection, or project management
- Experience with Class I Railroads
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred and the ability to obtain Professional Engineering (PE) license
- 2 years' experience in the freight rail industry with Public Improvement Projects
- Basic knowledge of some industry-standard computer software for the position (MicroStation, MathCAD, etc)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong time management skills, a strong work ethic, and a willing desire to learn
