As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

 

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

 

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

 

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience, including hands-on experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability with demonstrated expertise across the full Software Development Life Cycle
  • Expert-level proficiency in Java ecosystem including Spring Framework, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, and building RESTful microservices architectures.
  • Practical experience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.)
  • Strong system design and architecture skills with proven ability to design scalable, resilient distributed systems and lead architectural design sessions
  • Proficiency in relational databases and SQL, including query optimization, schema design, and database performance tuning (Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or AWS container services (ECS, EKS), including deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications
  • Advanced experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application development patterns
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security, with experience leading agile teams
  • Strong technical leadership skills with ability to lead evaluation sessions with stakeholders, internal teams, and drive technical decision-making

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills 
  • Experience with AI/ML technologies and frameworks, particularly LangChain, LangGraph, or similar AI orchestration frameworks for building LLM-powered applications
  • Frontend development experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or similar business intelligence platforms
