The Electrical Engineer—Plasma will participate as a team member in hardware development of plasma systems. This activity will include design, development and support of all related plasma cutting and motion systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and implement system electronics for plasma power sources and CNC controllers in the Plasma cutting industry
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management tools utilized in PCB manufacturing, preferably Omnify Empower PLM
- Work collaboratively with software engineers to ensure successful product development
- Support mechanical packaging and system design to meet electrical/thermal requirements
- Understand and navigate regulatory requirements to ensure designs meet required standards
- Work with manufacturing engineers to establish policies and processes for building and testing product
- Determine root cause analysis for failed equipment
- May lead functional teams or projects; accountable for the performance of a team within own discipline or function
- Interpret internal or external issues and recommend solutions/best practices
- Solve complex problems while taking a broad perspective to identify solutions
- Recognized as an expert in own area within the organization
- Knowledge of PCB Design tools for schematic capture and PCB layout, preferably Xpedition Enterprise
- Knowledge of UL/CSA and CE EMC regulations and the design practices necessary to avert EMC testing failures
- Perform general duties as assigned and assist in other areas as workload requires
REQUIRED SKILLS
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience designing embedded devices
- Adherence to safety policies while demonstrating safe work habits at all times
- Strong understanding at circuit level of microcontrollers and peripherals
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Uncompromising attitude towards safety, quality and customer service
- Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to clearly convey concepts and present results
