Job Description

Reporting to the Office of Title IX Compliance, the Civil Rights Case Manager and Prevention Education Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations regarding discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, as well as in fostering a campus environment free from such behaviors. This position is responsible for reviewing and responding to reports of discrimination or harassment based on a protected class, including sexual harassment and assault. It provides parties with information about their rights, supportive resources, and available resolution options.

In addition to case management, the coordinator is tasked with leading the university's prevention education strategy. This involves designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs to educate the campus community on issues related to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation. By engaging with students, staff, faculty, and external community partners, the coordinator works to promote awareness, acceptance and compliance. The role also includes providing leadership for awareness campaigns, organizing special events, and collaborating with stakeholders to promote a supportive educational and work environment. Continuous improvement of prevention programs and compliance procedures is essential, requiring the coordinator to stay informed about changes in relevant civil rights laws and university policies.

This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.  

Responsibilities:

  • Triage reports of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, conducting intake meetings, providing resolution options, and ensuring a prompt and appropriate response.

  • Support individuals by communicating party rights, facilitating resources, and coordinating support services.

  • Develop and review annual reports and climate assessments to identify systemic patterns.

  • Organize and prepare responses to Open Records requests and preparing compliance-related reports for federal and state agencies.

  • Serve as a resource on university policies, Title IX, ADA, Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act, and Texas state law.

  • Provide regular status updates to the parties involved in the complaint resolution process and maintaining confidentiality in compliance with regulations.

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all reports and responses.

  • Engage in continuous learning to stay current with Title IX, Title VII, VAWA, and other related civil rights regulations, state laws, and policies.

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of prevention education through workshops, presentations, and training modules—both online and in-person. Engage faculty, staff, students, and community organizations to foster an environment free from unlawful discrimination and harassment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Four years of related experience in compliance programs and/or activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education student personnel, social work, or counseling.

  • Five (5) years of related experience in higher education civil rights compliance, Title IX, student conduct, or student engagement.
