Terrapin Station Entertainment (TSE), a division of Sony Music Masterworks based in Los Angeles, CA, is an artist management and tour production company dedicated to helping unique musicians and brands capitalize on their core audience and shine in the cultural mainstream. TSE looks to further drive career advancement for its roster of dynamic developing artists and looks to curate and spearhead a range of live productions, including licensed tours and events adapted from popular multi-platform family brands.
We are looking for an Associate Director, Finance, who will actively shape and manage the accounting and financial structure, reporting mechanisms and day-to-day, monthly and annual financial activities of TSE and its subsidiaries. The role is an integral part of the TSE Senior Team, providing strategic financial support.
The position will report directly to the CEO of TSE and the CFO Masterworks Live. The position will work very closely with the Sony Music Masterworks Finance team and other Sony Music teams. This is a perfect opportunity for someone seeking a hands-on, pro-active role as they look to take their financial career to the next level, with scope to progress at a growing and very entrepreneurial division.

What you'll do:
- Perform accounting and finance functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Prepare and submit monthly and full year forecast
- Prepare and submit annual budget
- Financial Analysis and strategic reporting and commentary on its performance
- Prepare budget and forecast projections for individual projects/events/tours
- Prepare and submit financial statements by individual project/event/tour in accordance with GAAP after settlement
- Oversee project/event/tour settlements and accrual clearing
- Audit preparation
- Report to CEO and CFO Masterworks Live, working with Sony Masterworks Finance and other Sony teams
- Manage the transition from external accounting support to an in-house Sony team
- Work with Sony Global Finance and IT support to migrate to Sony financial systems (SAP)
- Implement strong financial controls to support Terrapin’s growing business
- Liaise between Sony and TSE staff on administrative and other needs (e.g. HR, expense management, etc.)
- Work with Sony HR on TSE annual headcount, budget, staff hiring protocol, and onboarding
- Liaise with Sony Tax Compliance Department
Who you are:
- Bachelor's degree with concentration in Accounting, Finance or related field (CPA preferred)
- Disciplined self-starter
- Have working knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, journal entries, general ledger, accruals
- Rigorous attention to detail and excellent time management skills
- Previous experience delivering month, quarter and year end closes and processes
- Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Hands on in all aspects of accounting and financial activities
- Experience of migrating accounting systems and implementing strong financial controls
- Comfortable in a changing environment, and willingness to implement change
- Minimum 4-6 years of business experience in financial analysis and accounting duties
- Live Entertainment and/or music touring industry experience is a must
