Reporting to the Director of Prison and Operations Maintenance, this position supports the administration of the statewide public works program for the Department of Corrections (DOC). This Position will provide senior administrative management and oversight of all Prison facilities plant maintenance and operations functions. This position will primarily concentrate on overseeing complex projects that facilities are unable to manage autonomously due to limitations in the skills and capabilities of lead staff to effectively complete them.

This position has statewide responsibility to provide leadership and statewide management support and coordination for 9 facility plant managers and maintenance departments to implement, coordinate and sustain the facilities life safety systems, sanitation systems, maintenance, efficiency in the sustainability of the Ecology Processes and operations program on a division-wide level. This position will also directly supervisor two warm closed prisons to include: Larch Corrections Center (LCC) and Mission Creek Corrections Center for Women (MCCCW).

Examples of duties

-Provide Administrative Management for Prisons Facilities Maintenance and Operations.
Tasks Include:
  • Provide senior level administrative management of maintenance and operations programs for nine Prison facilities.
  • Provide direction to and support Prison facilities in managing security electronics systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical,
    building automation systems, carpentry, grounds, and custodial services.
  • Manage division-wide preventative maintenance programs, manage division-wide service request program. 
  • Serve as the senior administrator, lead, SME, and primary strategist for maintenance, building/equipment operation, and asset preservation for the Prisons Division.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise to Department executives, Prisons leadership, Capital Programs, Budget, Office of
    Financial Management, and State Legislature regarding Prisons facilities maintenance and operations programs
    and the resources necessary to manage humane correctional facilities, protect lives and provide safe communities.
  • Lead and coordinate with staff and contractors related to buildings/equipment emergencies and unplanned repairs and
    projects.
  • Assist with the coordination of emergency purchases, repair, and/or replacements. 
  • Assist Plant Managers during emergencies to minimize facility damage and impacts to incarcerated individuals and personnel.
  • Manage and resolve issues that rise beyond the capability of the facilities to resolve on their own. 
  • Direct, manage, and participate in the development and implementation of agency goals, objectives, policies, and priorities related to Prisons facilities maintenance and facility operations. 
  • Provide assistance and oversight in the development and management of Prisons facilities maintenance agreements. 
  • Provide recommendations for facilities maintenance department staffing, equipment, and supplies. 
  • Provide administrative leadership and management to Prisons facilities maintenance staff by setting, monitoring, and providing feedback on performance standards. 
  • Ensure accountability and compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, agency policies and procedures, rules, and regulations related to facility operations.
