POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Assessment provides strategic leadership for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the College of Education’s assessment systems. This role leads the development of authentic assessment practices that capture meaningful evidence of student learning, program effectiveness, and workforce readiness across undergraduate, graduate, and educator preparation programs. 

Working collaboratively with faculty, program leaders, and college administration, the Director integrates assessment processes with data analytics to support evidence-based program review, accreditation compliance, and strategic decision-making. The position oversees the collection, validation, and interpretation of assessment data and develops clear data visualizations and dashboards that enable faculty and leadership to monitor outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and document impact.

The Director ensures alignment of assessment practices with university priorities, state and national accountability requirements, and accreditation standards. Through consultation, training, and technical support, the Director helps faculty embed authentic assessments within courses and programs, translating complex data into actionable insights that strengthen teaching, learning, and program quality. 

This position plays a critical role in advancing a culture of continuous improvement by connecting authentic assessment, data visualization, and program evaluation to inform strategic planning and institutional effectiveness. It reports directly to the Associate Dean for Student Success and Decision Support. 

Strategic Assessment Leadership

• Lead the design and implementation of data-driven assessment systems for academic and co-curricular programs. 
• Align assessment with university-wide metrics, AAU benchmarks, and accreditation standards (e.g., SACSCOC/HLC, CAEP). 
• Ensure assessment practices promote continuous improvement, equity, and accountability.

Quantitative Analysis and Reporting

• Apply advanced quantitative methods to measure learning outcomes, course performance, and institutional effectiveness.
• Conduct statistical analysis of student success indicators (retention, progression, completion, licensure, and placement). 
• Create dynamic, interactive dashboards using platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or other visualization tools. 
• Develop predictive models and benchmark analyses to support planning and intervention strategies.

Digital Systems and Data Management

• Manage and optimize modern assessment technologies (e.g., Watermark, AEFIS, Canvas Outcomes, Qualtrics).
• Design digital workflows for assessment data collection, rubric scoring, and automated reporting.
• Ensure data integrity, compliance, and accessibility through effective systems integration and documentation.
