JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Disaster Recovery (DR) Coordinator will help Business units with the creation, tracking, and testing of their DR plans. The coordinator will be responsible for creating any necessary policies, standards, frameworks, or other documents to aid in the creation of DR plans. The DR Coordinator also reports on the current inventory and status of disaster recovery plans located within the DR repository. The DRC will also provide assistance and backup support to the Incident Response (IR) Coordinator as needed. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Provides continuous improvement of DR processes, documentation, guides, templates, and frameworks supporting the program
  • Provide support to the IR Coordinator and be the backup when the primary IR coordinator is unavailable
  • Work with Penn State IT Leadership to plan, build, run, and aid in the management of disaster recovery services at PSU. This includes but is not limited to planning strategy, development, testing and recording, and communicating results
  • Works with Service Owners, Managers, and technical teams to ensure that Penn State IT services are documented in the repository, a DR plan is on file and updated and has been tested
  • Responsible for defining, preparing, and communicating DR key performance indicators
  • Serve as the liaison for Penn State IT Services in audits and compliance reviews regarding the disaster recovery program
  • Aide in the assessment of potential disruptions to provide support in the declaration of a disaster
  • Responsible for building and maintaining strong positive working relationships with colleagues across IT, business stakeholders, and suppliers to ensure effective and efficient ways of working

 

This position typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher plus 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  

 

The location of this position is flexible and can operate in a full remote capacity within the United States. Standard working hours are in the Eastern time zone. Candidates must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.
