Position Purpose
Responsible for on-site leadership of White Fleet Services personnel to ensure proper oversight, performance and safety for Fort Worth ISD vehicles; plans, organizes, and supervises white fleet maintenance and repair program. Ensures Transportation fleet management locations are operating effectively and efficiently.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Manages and records preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance of all white fleet vehicles using an electronic ticketing system.
• Makes fiscally responsive recommendations regarding repair and replacement or recommends decommissioning of fleet vehicles as supported by data.
• Maintains a database of all white fleet vehicles and parts with preventive maintenance schedules.
• Reviews technical and legal written materials regulating white fleet vehicles and repair.
• Investigates white fleet accidents when equipment failure is suspected.
• Prioritizes repairs and assigns work orders to appropriate shop staff using an electronic ticketing system.
• Monitors and inspects mechanical performance of white fleet to ensure reliable operation.
• Ensures external vendor repairs or warranty work is completed.
• Maintains a vendor performance matrix to ensure quality standards are met.
• Oversees and maintains replacement of existing equipment.
• Organizes and facilitates routine meetings with White Fleet Services personnel to share information and discuss issues and/or concerns.
Policy, Reports, & Laws
• Implements federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
• Compiles, maintains, files, and presents all reports, records, and other documents required using an electronic ticketing system.
• Ensures that employee time records are accurately maintained and data necessary to process transportation payroll is delivered in a timely manner.
Budget & Inventory
• Administers budget based on documented needs and ensures that operations are cost effective, and funds are managed wisely.
• Aids in preparation of monthly shop budget updates and presents financial reports to Transportation leadership.
• Supports development of maintenance recommendations and budget projections based on the anticipated needs of the fleet.
• Prepares repair and service invoices.
• Facilitates procurement of vehicle parts, supplies and shop equipment.
• Maintains shop inventory using just-in-time (JIT) management and materials requirement planning (MRP) to make fiscally responsive procurement decisions.
Operations Compliance
• Complies with OSHA and safety requirements; coordinates with the Safety & Security Office.
• Enforces safety standards that conform to state, federal, and insurance regulations.
• Coordinates with other teams to ensure that vehicles/equipment are in safe operating condition.
• Develops a program of preventive safety and provides training and orientation to all skilled maintenance general personnel in safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment.
