Summary
Teaching assistants (TA) in CSD at Saint Xavier will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities tailored to the course assignment. As a TA, the student will gain practical experience in supporting classroom instruction, facilitating student learning, and assisting with course administration. The emphasis will be placed on developing pedagogical skills, understanding diverse learning needs, and fostering an inclusive educational environment. Examples of duties
• Assisting faculty with classroom instruction, records, and assignments• Leading discussion sections (if TA is available during class)
• Meeting with students during TA Student Support Hours/Review Sessions (plan for 1 hr /week)
• Leading student reviews before each quiz
• Assist with grading quizzes (answer key provided)
• Assist with grading projects
• Preparing in-class activity materials
• Recording and calculating grades
• Providing feedback on assignments
• Proctoring examinations
• Taking attendance or monitoring participation
• Prepare and distribute course materials (if the TA is available during class)
• Meeting with faculty 1x/week
• Completing administrative tasks (e.g., photocopying, printing)
• Identify evidence-based resources that can support course content

MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY
Must be Federal Work Study Eligible
The Grad Assistant will assist with grading clinical assignments, support with in-class activities on an as needed basis, and hold weekly office hours for undergraduate students. Graded assignments will include soap notes, master plans, lesson plans, and case-study based assignments. Additional tasks may be introduced on an as needed basis.
