Our Charleroi, Pennsylvania manufacturing facility is expanding its capacity and introducing new generations of high-voltage circuit breakers to meet this increasing demand.
The Industrial Engineer plays a critical role in designing, improving, and industrializing manufacturing processes that enable safe, high-quality, and efficient production. This position combines mechanical engineering knowledge with Lean Manufacturing principles to optimize production methods, support new product introductions (NPI), improve equipment and tooling, and increase factory capacity.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design and improve manufacturing processes for high-voltage electrical equipment using Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Lead industrialization activities for new products, ensuring manufacturing readiness, process capability, tooling, and capacity planning – this includes coordination of PFMEA and MOC (Management of Change) projects.
- Support factory layout development, material flow optimization, and production line expansion through Lean methodologies such as 3P and Value Stream Mapping.
- Design and implement manufacturing fixtures, assembly aids, lifting devices, and ergonomic improvements using sound mechanical engineering practices.
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify bottlenecks, waste, and opportunities for operational excellence.
- Lead continuous improvement projects focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity (SQCDP).
- Support automation and robotic integration initiatives by defining process requirements and ensuring manufacturability.
- Develop and maintain standard work, manufacturing routings, work instructions, and labor standards.
- Collaborate with Quality teams to investigate manufacturing issues, implement corrective actions, and improve First Pass Yield (FPY).
- Support Maintenance with equipment reliability improvements, preventive maintenance strategies, and process capability enhancements.
- Work closely with Production Supervisors and Operators to implement sustainable process improvements.
- Participate in Kaizen events and facilitate cross-functional problem-solving workshops.
- Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with GE Vernova safety standards, quality requirements, and environmental regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related Engineering discipline
- Mechanical engineering background with at least 3 years experience in manufacturing environments.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly operations, and production systems.
- Experience with PFMEA, MOC and Root Cause Analysis
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, fixtures, tooling, and ergonomics.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within heavy manufacturing or electrical equipment manufacturing.
- Knowledge of high-voltage equipment manufacturing processes.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Experience using SAP ERP
