Job Summary:
We have an immediate need for a Sr. Software Systems Quality Engineer to support the Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU). The position is in Tucson, AZ and the successful candidate must reside within 120 miles of the site (travel compensation is not included).
This position is an onsite role.
LADS includes Precision Fires & Maneuver (TOW, Javelin, Excalibur), High Energy Laser (CUAS), and Short/Medium-Range Ground-Based Air (MFRFS, E-IFPC, Stinger, Sentinel, NASAMS) systems that are supported from across the USA (CA, AZ, NM, TX, AL, IN). It also includes Global Patriot (domestic and international) and Lower Tier Air & Missile (LTAMDS Ghost-Eye) systems that are primarily supported from New England (MA, NH, RI).
Software Quality Engineering (SWQE), within Engineering Sustainment Quality Assurance (ESQA), provides solutions and services to the business. It is embedded in the lifecycle to prevent defects and to ensure quality, cost, schedule, and technical objectives are met.
Digital Products include simulation models, software, firmware, along with release, defect, and documentation management. Employee will ensure verification and validation of design, development, integration, and qualification testing of products.
Job duties include classified activities in multiple onsite secure labs and unclassified activities in a dedicated workspace. Daily activities are primarily at one Tucson, AZ site; however, may be in multiple buildings across campus) with potential limited local travel between sites.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Processes – Experience with Agile and DevOps software processes. Knowledge of emerging software development and quality best practices. Emphasis on testing, continuous integration, and continuous monitoring. Conduct code analysis and root cause corrective action.
Compliance – Participate in all phases of product design and development. Ensure digital products are compliant to contractual and corporate process requirements. Review and approve inputs and outputs to/from Software, Systems, and Integration & Test organizations.
Product – Ensure integrity of the technical data package. Monitor and participate in the test and release. Identify and measure software quality attributes, metrics, and data.
Improvement – Perform independent evaluations and risk assessments across lifecycle. Lead project activities to improve processes and facilitate root cause analysis with corrective actions.
Teamwork – Interact with customers, product development, and test personnel. Provide guidance to senior leadership and to team members.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) Education and five (5) years of Engineering Experience.
- 5 years working experience applying advanced technical principles in Software development process (code reviews), defect management (prioritization, resolution), artifact assessment (software, configuration).
- Working experience on Agile teams with related processes (e.g., Sprints / Iterations, Stories / Points, Backlog / Burndown, Defect Density / Removal).
- Working experience with DevSecOps tools (e.g., Confluence, Jira, Jenkins, Git, Coverity, Rhapsody, and/or Cucumber, Selenium, Fortify, Oracle, SAP) or other (e.g., ClearCase, DOORS, RQM).
- Working experience with Software Quality Metrics development, tracking, Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action, and best practices across defense and/or commercial industries.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Security Clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced STEM Degree.
- Experience with Firmware development process, defect management, and artifact assessment.
- Leader of project initiatives within supported programs and/or of small teams.
