What You Will Contribute To Altos
This full-time position has overall responsibility to manage Logistics and Warehouse Operations at the San Diego facilities. This position will be part of the Facilities organization and oversee all the warehouse, distribution, and logistics operations (including imports and exports), and lead the warehouse team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all warehouse activities, including materials handling, receiving, storage, warehousing, distribution, transportation, shipping, and general administrative service activities.
- Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all warehouse equipment and activities.
- Ensure compliance with and updating of the Hazardous Chemical Inventory System.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
- Collaborate in the development and implementation of policies and specifications for procurement and import/export operations.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), and documents for warehouse activities.
- Work cross-functionally among Science Operations, Purchasing, Logistics partners, and Customer Services to manage critical material and sample flow.
- Collaborates with other teams to implement effective systems. Identify risks, issues, and make recommendations to business leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all domestic and international import/export regulations and customs requirements.
- Prepare and process import/export documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists.
- Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-efficient shipping.
- Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Customer Service and other internal teams.
- Leverages and analyzes logistics data, drive gap analysis, and lead improvement.
- Provides guidance around warehouse flow and security of goods.
- Participate in strategy discussions to ensure that decisions are aligned with agreed upon processes and initiate modifications, as required.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices for warehouse and import/export operations.
- Manage warehouse operations budget and procurement processes, including service agreements for vendors and contractors.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop strategies to enhance efficiency.
- Support development and use of accurate materials inventory systems, control procedures and reports.
- Recruit, train, and manage warehouse staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development.
- Stay updated on industry trends, advances, and compliance updates.
- Perform other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Work is a dynamic start-up environment and be hands-on as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration or minimum 5-years of professional relevant supply chain experience with a focus on import/export operations.
- In depth understanding and knowledge of import and export regulations, customs procedures, and international trade laws.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Working knowledge of current R&D and GMP Regulations.
- Experience with ERP systems required
- Demonstrated ability to manage a materials control and materials handling group in a broad scope, hands on, customer focused, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent written, oral communication, and organization skills, a team player.
