The Data Scientist supports SWORPS and partner organizations through advanced data management, statistical analysis, predictive modeling, reporting automation, and data visualization. The position integrates and analyzes large-scale administrative, survey, and longitudinal datasets to generate actionable insights for policy, program improvement, and strategic decision-making. The position collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop analytic solutions, build reporting infrastructure, communicate findings, and support research and evaluation initiatives across multiple externally funded projects.
This is a grant-funded position and is contingent upon the continued funding of the grant.
Conduct predictive modeling, longitudinal analysis, statistical modeling, and data mining to support externally funded projects and partner needs.
Integrate and analyze large-scale administrative, survey, and longitudinal datasets to generate actionable insights for policy, program improvement, and strategic decision-making.
Develop automated analytic workflows and reproducible reporting systems to improve efficiency, transparency, and repeatability of analytic outputs.
Design, develop, and maintain reporting systems and dashboards that support monitoring, evaluation, and decision-making across projects.
Develop data visualization products and business intelligence tools to communicate trends, findings, and performance indicators to varied audiences.
Support database governance and quality assurance activities to promote data integrity, consistency, and appropriate use across reporting products.
Collaborate with researchers, evaluators, and external partners to scope analytic needs, refine research questions, and deliver data products aligned with project goals.
Contribute to reports, presentations, publications, and dissemination activities by summarizing methods, interpreting results, and translating findings for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Work with interdisciplinary teams to develop effective processes that support consistent and efficient use of data across multiple projects.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in data management; data science; statistics, or information science, or related fields
- Experience:
- Minimum two years’ experience working with large data sets to produce actionable insights for government or nonprofit agencies.
- Minimum two years’ experience working with ARR, data visualization, and data analysis software in a human services setting.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of database structures and data management principles.
- Knowledge of survey methodology, knowledge of data visualization best practices.
- Skill in statistical and database development software, for example, SQP, R, SPSS, Python, and Java.
- Skill in data cleaning and transformation, skill in dashboard development and reporting.
- Skill to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to synthesize complex information for non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines

Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Doctoral degree in data management; data science; statistics, or information science, or related fields
- Experience:
- Two years’ experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Two years’ experience leading a team or a project.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of SQL, R, Tableau, Power BI, GIS software, or other advanced analytics and visualization tools.
Work Location:
This position is a fully remote position that can work throughout the United States.
Compensation and Benefits:
UT market range: MR12
Anticipated hiring range: $75,000 to $80,000
