Database Engineer

The Database Engineer/ Developer is a deeply technical engineer responsible for architecting and developing backend applications and database solutions supporting enterprise level systems. Collaborates with development and BI team members to implement enterprise software solutions ensuring data accuracy, availability, and speed of delivery through heavy use of T-SQL, views, ETLs and SSIS/SSMS.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Backend application development focused on supporting database objectives for enterprise levels applications including stored procedures, functions, views.
• Implement all aspects of an application design – performance design, coding, security, encryption, state management, error logging, debugging, scalability, code reviews, development environment configuration, and testing.
• Work with BI team to design and implement data warehousing systems for business intelligence needs.
• Model and document existing and new databases.
• Design, implement and troubleshoot data processes using ETLs.
• Design and maintain testing procedures.
• Troubleshoot database-related system problems, including performance, exceptions and other business logic failures related to the data structure.
• Maintain data flow between CRM, ERP, accounting, and BI systems.
• Write and troubleshoot SQL code and design (stored procedures, views, indexes, etc.)
• Partner with development team to review, test and deploy database modifications.
• Work with system administrators to manage database servers – user and application security levels, disk space, etc.
• Contributes to establishing database development standards, policies, and procedure documentation.
• Implement and contribute to version control systems and procedures for database objects.
• Implement proper database design structure based on best practices and relational concepts.
• Use source control to track production database objects, ETL’s through the whole development cycle and migration and deployment scripts for database and application related projects.

 Education and Experience:

• College degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent technical degree.
• Minimum 5 years database administration experience with MS SQL Server up to and including 2017.
• Application development not required but a plus (.NET, C#, WPF, Razor, React/Redux, MS-SQL, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, JSON, CRM SDK, MS Dynamics 365 CRM).
• Experience with application integration between multiple systems focusing on data integration.
• Experience with Dynamics 365 Online.
• Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS).
• Experience working in a development, test/UAT and production environment, deploying and promoting code between them and troubleshooting and correcting data issues in production databases.
